Description
The Outdoor LC Uniboot Duplex OS2 LSZH fiber patch cable is a high-performance connectivity solution specifically developed for the demanding requirements of modern wireless site architectures. As cellular networks transition to Fiber-to-the-Antenna (FTTA) designs, the need for durable, weather-resistant cabling becomes paramount. This cable serves as a critical link between Baseband Units (BBU) and Remote Radio Units (RRU), replacing heavy traditional coaxial cables with lightweight, high-capacity optical fiber that minimizes signal loss and wind loading on towers.
Structurally, the cable is built to withstand the rigors of outdoor installation. It features a robust 5.0mm outer diameter jacket made of Low Smoke Zero Halogen (LSZH) material, which is both flame-retardant and UV-resistant. The uniboot connector design is particularly advantageous in outdoor enclosures and RRU interfaces where space is limited, allowing two fibers to be managed as a single round cable. This significantly reduces the complexity of routing through cable glands and towers while providing enhanced mechanical protection compared to standard indoor jumpers.
Inside the reinforced jacket, the cable utilizes OS2 single-mode fiber (G.652D or G.657A grade), optimized for long-distance transmission at 1310nm and 1550nm wavelengths. With a high lateral pressure resistance of over 1000N/100mm and a wide operating temperature range, this patch cord maintains peak optical performance despite extreme sunlight, rain, or physical extrusion. FiberMania’s precision manufacturing ensures that each assembly meets the high reliability standards required for 4G and 5G infrastructure.

FAQ
Can this cable be used in direct burial applications? While the 5.0mm LSZH jacket is highly durable and UV resistant for tower and rooftop use, for direct burial we generally recommend an armored version. Please contact us for customization options if your project requires burial.
What is the advantage of the Uniboot connector in an FTTA setup? In FTTA, the RRU ports are often inside a very tight waterproof enclosure. The uniboot connector uses a single round cable instead of two, making it much easier to seal the entry point and reducing the mess of cables at the top of the tower.
Does FiberMania provide technical support for connector selection? Yes. Since different RRU brands use different interfaces (like FullAXS or NSN), our engineering team can help you match the correct connector type B to your specific equipment requirements.
How does the LSZH jacket perform in sunlight? Our LSZH material is specially formulated with UV stabilizers, ensuring it will not become brittle or crack even after years of exposure to direct sunlight on a rooftop or tower.
