Description
The 100G QSFP28 BiDi ER1-40 Optical Transceiver is a long-reach bidirectional module designed for 100GBASE-ER1-40 Ethernet applications over a single strand of single-mode fiber. Using dual wavelengths of 1304nm and 1309nm for bidirectional transmission, it supports distances of up to 40km while reducing fiber resource requirements and simplifying long-distance network deployment. The module combines PAM4 optical modulation, an EML laser transmitter, and an APD receiver to provide reliable optical performance for extended-reach links. With a QSFP28 form factor, CAUI-4 host electrical interface, Simplex LC optical interface, I2C-based digital diagnostics, and single +3.3V power supply, it is suitable for long-distance data center interconnects, telecom infrastructure, and high-density 100G Ethernet networks.

FAQ
What is the maximum transmission distance?
The transceiver supports transmission distances of up to 40km over single-mode fiber, making it suitable for extended-reach 100G Ethernet applications.
How does the BiDi technology reduce fiber requirements?
The module uses 1304nm and 1309nm wavelengths to transmit and receive data bidirectionally over a single strand of fiber, eliminating the need for a separate fiber for each transmission direction.
What receiver technology does the module use?
It uses an APD receiver, which provides high optical sensitivity and supports reliable signal reception over extended transmission distances.
What optical connector does it use?
The transceiver uses a Simplex LC optical interface for single-fiber bidirectional connectivity.
Does it support digital diagnostics?
Yes. The module supports digital diagnostics through an I2C management interface, allowing host equipment to monitor operating parameters and module status.
